Elliot Deutsch has written many, many charts for Jazz Ensemble. Each chart can be purchased for $50. Music is delivered via email as a pdf. Since these charts are being sold directly by the arranger, small changes can be made for a nominal fee. Solos can be moved from one part to another, or a feature instrument can be transposed for another instruments, etc. For instance, "Nearness of You" was transposed down a whole step so that it can feature a female vocalist instead of a flugelhorn.
Easy charts are perfect for Middle School Jazz Band, beginning High School Jazz Band, or sight-readable music for any band. These charts are just as musical as the medium of hard charts, just the parts aren't as demanding.
Medium charts are perfect for High School Jazz Band or College Jazz Band. These pieces tend to be a bit more challenging. Lead trumpet might have to play a written C or D, and saxophones will have tricky rhythms in their soli's.
Hard charts will provide a good challenge for the most advanced High School Bands, College Bands, or Professional Jazz Ensembles. Lead trumpet might ascend to a written F or G. There are tricky key changes, mixed meter, etc. These pieces will require extra rehearsal, but the challenge is worth the reward.
