Elliot Deutsch teaches private lessons at Groovin' on Music in Pasadena, as well as in-home lessons.
Rates for trumpet lessons are $30 per half an hour, $50 per hour. Improvisation and arranging lesson rates are negotiable.

Trumpet
Elliot Deutsch has taught trumpet lessons for many years. His students range from absolute beginners, to advanced collegiate players. He emphasizes the fundamentals of the instrument while instilling a joy in the creation of music.
Deutsch holds a BA in Jazz Studies from UCLA and a MM in Music (Jazz Studies) from SCULB.
Jazz Improvisation
Jazz Improvisation is one of the most transcendent and satisfying experiences for an instrumentalist. Deutsch has taught a workshop on Jazz Improvisation several times at Caltech. There is an emphasis on music theory and genre-appropriate vocabulary. Ear-playing is equaly as important as reading chord changes, and both methods are highlighted. Elliot Deutsch holds an MM in Jazz Studies from CSU Long Beach, and has studied improvisation privately with Ron Stout, Jeff Jarvis, and Bobby Rodriguez.
Jazz Improvisation lessons are only appropriate for intermediate to advance level instrumentalists.
Arranging
Elliot Deutsch is an accomplished arranger, having written arrangements for many jazz ensembles, combos, orchestras, and choirs. Arranging lessons cover music theory, as well as harmony and voicing techniques. Arranging for 17-piece big band is usually the focus.
