"Great charts! Great players! An absolutely stunning band!"
-Ruth Price (Founder of The Jazz Bakery)

"The Elliot Deutsch Big Band is one of the most exciting and innovative bands on the jazz scene today. This incredibly tight band, comprised of twenty something musicians, swing like seasoned pros but with a youthful heat that takes the audience on a wild ride."

-Barbara Brighton (Producer of YAJS)

The Elliot Deutsch Big Band is the hardest swinging band of up-and-coming musicians to hit LA in recent memory. Its members, all of whom are in their twenties, are the next generation of writers, performers and studio musicians, many of which are already active on the national scene. Original compositions and daring new arrangements make Elliot Deutsch Big Band performances unique and exciting.

Since its first rehearsal in April 2007, the band has been a workshop for several promising young writers. Since then the Elliot Deutsch Big Band has graced the stage at the Jazz Bakery, Pasadena Jazz Institute, Santa Monica Bar & Grill, the UCLA JazzReggae Festival, and the Caltech Jazz Festival.

Elliot Deutsch is an accomplished young trumpeter and composer. He is a staff member of the Caltech Music Department where he directs the Caltech Monday Jazz Band and teaches a course on jazz improvisation. Deutsch studied music under of Bobby Rodriguez and Ron Stout. Aside from heading his own big band, Deutsch performs frequently with The Mutaytor, Bobby Rodriguez's Latin Jazz Orchestra, and is active as a freelancer. As a writer he has written commissions for San Gabriel 7 and the USC Jazz Orchestra. His big band compositions have been played by the Cal State Long Beach Jazz Orchestra and the Caltech Thursday Jazz Band.

Enjoy the live recordings and remember to check out where we are playing. There is no substitute for seeing the band live.
